RESTAURANT LOCATIONS

Welcome to The Yellow Submarine, a timeless slice of San Francisco's culinary history. For over 52 years, we've been serving up iconic, piled-high sandwiches that have become a cherished tradition for locals and visitors alike.

Our Legacy Established in 1971 by a Boston native who couldn't find his favorite East Coast "grinders" anywhere in the city, The Yellow Submarine has been an Inner Sunset institution since day one. In 1975, the Naser family took the helm, and they've held true to the deli's original vision ever since. Our motto? If it's not broken, don't fix it.

A Taste of Tradition At The Yellow Submarine, we're all about the classics. Our Boston-style subs, hoagies, or grinders (however you prefer to call them) are renowned for their generous portions and loaded fixings, all served on deliciously thick Italian rolls. Each sandwich is carefully assembled, and we offer a "the works" option, allowing you to fully customize your creation.

Quality Above All Our commitment to quality is unwavering. From hand-selecting the beef for our top-selling steak sandwiches to crafting our own house-made hot sauce, we take pride in offering you the very best. Even our fries are cut by hand, creating a specialty that's rarely found in San Francisco.

A Family Affair When you step through our doors, you'll experience the warmth of a family-run business. Jack, Juliet, Rami, and the team work together seamlessly to create your perfect sandwich. It's not just a meal; it's a labor of love.

A Hidden Gem Though we're not often in the spotlight, you can find us on Reddit and hear whispers of praise from locals in the know. Even celebrities like Gavin Newsom and Danny Glover have enjoyed our sandwiches.

The Yellow Submarine Today In a rapidly changing city, we stand as a beacon of consistency, serving up fantastic sandwiches just as we have for over half a century. Whether you're a longtime regular or a first-time visitor, we invite you to experience the charm and culinary nostalgia of The Yellow Submarine. We're more than just a sandwich shop; we're a piece of San Francisco's history, and we're delighted to share it with you.

Thank you for being a part of our story.

Got sandwiches to go for my family. We had a few of us over for a get together and it was near lunch time. My sister ordered the large sandwiches and we picked them up. The place only takes cash so be prepared for that. We got 4 large sandwiches. Two Italian combos and two turkey. It came out to almost 70 bucks. Wow huh. but they were very tasty and we really loved them. I especially liked the Italian combo. A little steep but hey it's SF

Ordered a large Turkey avocado sandwich with the works, and boy was this thing large! We knew they were known for their big subs, but I wasn't expecting it to be the size of small baby! Prices are also pretty damn good for what you get, we got a large sandwich and two bags of chips - plenty of food for two very hungry people, and possibly enough for 3 if your appetite isn't so big. All of this came out to under $25 - not many places in the city two people can eat and end up full for under $25.

I ordered the medium reuben for $12.75. Absolutely delicious as it was massive. The older lady greeted me when I walked in, and I like that the dining area is flooded with natural light from the many windows.

Family run sandwich shop, competitive prices, neighborhood joint. Sandwiches served on soft French roll, they are big and they are affordable by SF standard. Service was cordial and welcoming. I've had the medium pastrami today, it was worth the money I thought. Nothing special just a good neighborhood sandwich shop to have and frequent if you happen to live in the neighborhood.
